Excellence Only at St John’s
St John’s Performing Arts Centre of Excellence hosted a spectacular concert in St John’s Cathedral on Thursday, 29 October. The program was varied, sampling some of the best performances by individuals and ensembles. The highlight of the evening was a violin performance by International student, Shuyao Lu who played the theme from Schindler’s List. After Shuyao’s performance the crowd was so amazed that every person stood to applaud his extraordinary talent.

Shuyao explained that he has been attending regular violin classes for the past eleven years. During this time he has attained a pass in all twelve music exam levels. Prior to arriving in Australia Shuyao was also the Gold prize winner for, “Ocean Theme” a violin competition which was organised by Shanghai Music Academic in 2013. In the same year he was the Gold prize winner for, “Rising Stars of China” hosted by the Chinese Central Government. This year Shuyao received the Bronze prize for the Chinese National TV Channel “CCTV Violin Competition” in July 2015.
It has been truly amazing welcoming such a talented and driven student to the College. St John’s looks forward to presenting the talents of our very gifted students at the next Evening of Music at the Cathedral in 2016. We would also like to thank all of our wonderful parents who attended to support the students.
