Leo’s Annual Induction
The St Johns Anglican College Leos Club is a College based Club affiliated with the Forest Lake Lion’s Club. The Lion who facilitates this Club is April Lindel who has been working for SJAC Leos for many years. Every year new members of the Leos club are officially Inducted into the Leos Club. This event was held in the Auditorium in the afternoon on Sunday 17 August and followed by a pleasant afternoon tea in the sunshine outside the hall. In attendance were Mrs Bain, Milton Dick (Councillor for Richlands Ward), Angela Owen Taylor (Councillor for Parkinson Ward), many representatives of the Forest Lake Lions Club, parents and Leos. The Leos President for 2014, Jacinta Spence presented a speech as did Lion April Lindel and Mrs Bain. The Leos presented appreciation Certificates to Mrs Bain, Angela Owen Taylor and Milton Dick for their help with the Leos Club. The Leos are involved in many community events such as the Adopt a Road Project, Lions Fundraising Barbeques, The Love and Care Foundation (which provides emergency packs for children suddenly taken into care) and we raise money for causes such as the Cancer Council and the RSPCA with College barbeques and cup cake sales. Angela Owen Taylor presented a gift for the Leos Club – some rubbish “picker – uppers” and rubber gloves – very useful and appreciated. Thank you Angela. Leos who were inducted at the event were – Alicia Barr, Jessica Barr, Lachlan Randolph, Bryce Mills, Jarrod Cane and Jack Ennis. The membership of the Leos Club rests at around thirty members and the SJAC teachers who assist with Leos are Mrs Allison Lamb and Mrs Liz Rush.
