Principal’s Note – 2013 Wrap up
Our Twentieth Year Celebrations this year have culminated with successful student outcomes in academic, sport, performing arts and service programs. These elements are the foundation of a balanced St John’s education, established twenty years ago by the College founders and it has been a great pleasure for all involved in the past two decades to witness ongoing achievement in these areas. During the year we have reconnected with early community members, shared stories of success and hard work, and at times disappointment, and as a result our community has become stronger. We now go forward into the next decade with confidence and renewed enthusiasm for the challenging but infinitely rewarding privilege of educating our young people for their future.
At the end of 2013 our College community farewelled our Head of Primary, Mrs Pam Hall. Mrs Hall served the College from 2005 to 2013 with distinction. In the second decade of the development of this young school she refined the primary school curriculum, guided and developed our teaching staff and established Little Saints Kindergarten. She was also recognised with a Fellowship for excellence in Educational Leadership through her professional association, the Australian Council for Educational Leadership, Queensland. We wish Mrs Hall well in her retirement.
With much pleasure and excitement we welcome Mrs Sandra Hawken as our new Head of Primary in 2014.
Mrs Hawken has a wide range of experience in the independent school system, with her previous position as Head of The Toowoomba Preparatory School. Mrs Hawken said, “I am highly passionate about education for young people, particularly in the area of literacy as this provides the key to all learning.”
Mrs Hawken brings to the College, great experience and expertise and we look forward to her joining St John’s highly skilled, passionate primary teachers
