Queensland Clarinet and Saxophone Society Competition

8.9.2015

On the 5th and 6th of September a selection of students participated in the annual Queensland Clarinet and Saxophone Society Competition. This year the competition was held at Somerville House in South Brisbane, with Saturday being reserved for solo performances and the Sunday for Ensembles.

St John’s believes that the competition provides students with a wonderful opportunity to perform their pieces in front of an audience, who then provide the students with constructive feedback from adjudicators in preparation for AMEB examinations. Students also received the chance to listen to other students of similar ages perform.

The competition is structured similar to an eisteddfod with different sections and including approximately 100 competitors.

Congratulations to Kiran who played in the Under 13 Saxophone section and received a Highly Commended award, along with Cindy who competed very well in the Clarinet section against 14 other young performers.
