St John’s Attends Parliament for a Science and Sport Event

11.11.2016

On Wednesday 9 November ten Sport and Science students from St John’s journeyed to the Queensland Parliament, Brisbane to attend the annual Sport and Science Conference.

This provided an excellent opportunity to have a tour of Parliament and also to network with other Sport and Science minded people from across the world. The tour of Parliament was an eye opening experience including rich history and period architecture.

Soon after students had the pleasure of speaking with The Hon Leeanne Enoch MP, Minister for Innovation, Science and the Digital Economy and Minister for Small Business. Students also received the opportunity to meet several high profile sporting individuals including the Australian Cricket High Performance Manager, Pat Howard and Olympic Swimmer Melanie Schlanger OAM.

Before returning to the College students also tested several interactive displays such as the vertical jump tester and the virtual reality cricket demonstration.

This was a truly rewarding experience for all students who attended
