St John’s Compete at Interschool Secondary Chess Tournament


On Tuesday 17 May, five teams of St John’s students visited the Anglican Church Grammar School to compete in a chess tournament. In total there was 17 students who represented St John’s, including one team in the A Grade and four teams in the B Grade.

Students from the A team were awarded 12th place out of 20 teams from Brisbane and surrounding areas. Another outstanding score was achieved by two teams of St John’s students who competed in the B Grade. To the student’s excitement one team was awarded 4th place and the other placed 8th, out of a total of 32 teams.

All students had a wonderful day and should be congratulated for putting in 100% to the competition.
