St John’s defies National trends in NAPLAN!

17.8.2016

Students and teachers at St John’s are excited to receive their results from the annual National testing in literacy and numeracy in May this year.  These showed that our students performed above the National Average in all tests in year 3, 5, 7 and 9. Thank you students and teachers for a great effort.

Four consecutive years of significant improvement in St John’s NAPLAN results in literacy and numeracy years 3 to 9 is indeed a great news story. While national news reports claim that students in Australia perform below the rest of the world in literacy and numeracy at age 15 and that overall NAPLAN results have plateaued across the country our school is bucking that trend.

This significant improvement has been achieved though quality teaching in specific programs proven to target the development of these vital skills in both primary and secondary levels over the last eighteen months. Our teachers are confident that these trends will continue to add value to the learning for every child at St John’s.

Congratulations to everyone involved!
