St John’s Future Thinkers attend Innovation Summit at the Kennedy Space Centre, USA

Recently, three Year Ten St John’s Future Thinkers students attended an Innovation Summit at the Kennedy Space Centre, Florida, USA through the Conrad Foundation Challenge. The competition, which has such partners as NASA and Lockheed Martin, promotes creative solutions to world problems on the part of students. St John’s students had the opportunity to develop their winning entry (an environmentally friendly insect deterrent to protect crops) with leading engineers, scientists and business leaders. Three members of the St John’s team, Shihaab Azam, Olivia Hutley and Hamza Khan, capably led by teacher Mr King, were the only Australian school at the Summit. They attracted attention with their red coats and were suitably inspired by the quality and innovation on show by other competition entrants. Congratulations to all of the team for their inspiration and for representing St John’s so well.
