St John’s Student tops Queensland in the UNSW ICAS English Competition
We are very proud of Trent Nixon who topped Queensland in the Year Ten category of the ICAS English Competition and who will receive a Medal at a UNSW presentation in early December. Trent also topped the State in the Australian History Competition earlier this year.
Last term approximately twenty students from Years Seven to Ten were chosen (or they nominated) to sit the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools English Competition (‘ICAS English Competition’) run by the University of NSW.
Credits were awarded to Year Seven students – Harry McKenzie, Ellie Clayton, An Nguyen and Sophia Park. The Year Eights performed very well with distinctions awarded to Thomas Cameron and Cassidy Wilson and credits to Ruby Ennis, Samuel Colwell, Mark Dunkley, Isabella Farry, Taylor Hailes, Jayden Hasted, Aiden Marland, Richa Patel and William Smith. Two Year Nine students, Ludovic Bornaghi and Kelsey Matuschka, received distinctions and Chloe Allen, Sophie Anderson, Shihaab Azam, Chace Eldridge, Samuel James, Aaron Midkiff and Uma Nayar received credits. In Year Ten, A high distinction was awarded to Trent Nixon and distinctions were awarded to Dominic Bowden and Bryce Mills. Credits in Year Ten were awarded to Bahvik Barot, Chloe De Nys, Jacob Fels, Isabelle McKewen and Jonathan Reid.
