TAS Sport

The College is a member of The Associated Schools (TAS) Sporting Association, which provides competition for students at a variety of levels.  Both experienced and novice players are encouraged to participate and enjoy the challenges associated with skill development and improvement.

TAS competitions are contested between member schools in swimming cross country and athletics and the following team sports are conducted across three trimesters each year:

Cricket, volleyball, rugby, tennis, football, basketball, netball, hockey and touch football.

Commitment

Team sports require students to commit to a number of weekly training sessions and up to nine Saturday games per trimester.

It is imperative that parents and students understand that attendance at all games and training sessions is a requirement for all members of St. John’s sports teams.  Most training will occur at the senior campus, whilst fixtures on Saturdays are held at a variety of venues.

As all sports play home games at the same time, it is necessary for the College to seek the use of some local community facilities to successfully host these fixtures.

JTAS

From Year 4 to 6, our primary students have the opportunity to represent the College in inter-school sport through the Junior TAS (JTAS) competition. Sports include rugby union, cricket, netball, touch football, football, AFL, tennis and softball.
