The Journey to Middle School at St John’s
It really has been an incredible year for our Year Six students and their teachers. On Monday 28 November St John’s Year Six students, families and teachers attended the McLeod Country Golf Club to celebrate and recognise the transition which is about to take place for their students from Upper Primary into Middle School in 2017. We thank our caring families who have supported the students through their Primary School education.
We also express our thanks to Old Collegian (2012) and Guest Speaker, Natalie Fortuna who shared in her memories of the College and the experience of transitioning from Year Six to Year Seven. Today, Natalie is a successful Media Support Officer working for the Queensland Rail.
The St John’s community congratulates our Year Six students! We are extremely proud of the students for their individual achievements plus the very positive and enthusiastic example which they have set the younger students. Year Six teachers, Miss Brookman and Mr Allen explained, “This evening, our hearts are filled with an equal amount of pride and sadness, for we are proud of this cohort’s achievements but saddened they will be leaving us in just a few days to continue their journey through Secondary school and beyond”.
After this exciting evening the students will spend the next two days at the Secondary Campus for their Orientation Days. This provides the cohort with an opportunity to become familiar with the campus, meet some of our wonderful teaching staff, students and also to get involved in a number of activities which cover Drama, Art, STEM, Design Engineering and Technology and much more.
We look forward to welcoming the 2016 Year Six cohort to our Secondary School community in 2017!
