Excellence Awardee in the 2021 Australian Education Awards
In December 2021, St John’s was recognised as an excellence awardee for Best School Strategic Plan in the prestigious Australian Education Awards.
The Awards, in its fourth year, reveals the schools and individuals who are driving posi
tive change across the Australian education landscape. Across 28 categories, the tireless work of education professionals is celebrated in what was another year of disruption.
St John’s was acknowledged for its consultation and engagement with the school community, implementation, and progress to date of its strategic direction launched in 2020.
Principal Mrs Maria McIvor explains the journey of St John’s new strategic direction commencing in 2019:
“The year was named ‘Know They Self’ and presented the College with an opportunity to strengthen its business and marketing foundations to gain pipeline of future enrolments around key entry points, clarity, leadership and communication around our mission, vision and values as well as a strategic plan to take the College forward from 2020 and beyond.
We explored the ‘St John’s Way’ and what that means in practical terms to ensure consistency in our practice and approach together with the importance of culture and community.
It gave the College an opportunity to distinguish its unique brand positioning.
Twelve months later at the start of 2020 marked a new and exciting era in the history of the College, as we took a leap of faith and launched our new direction after much deliberation and full support of St John’s College Council. The new mission, vision and redefined core values were launched to the community together with the new Strategic Direction for 2020 and Beyond.
What makes this strategic direction unique to the Australian education sector is that it is agile in nature, positioned to be responsive in a changing world with no definite end date. It offers continuous and transparent measurement and tracking of progress, creating opportunities to respond.”
The College continues to keep the community informed on the progress of strategic enterprise initiatives on St John’s Global Learning Institute micro website.
