Kooralbyn Equestrian Group One Day Event

On the weekend of the 27 and 28 February 2016 the Kooralbyn Equestrian Group held their One Day Event.  Once again this event was an Interschool Equestrian Qualifier. St John’s student, Sophie Nicholls entered her horse Booroodabin Rooney into the Pre-Intro Open Class and Laura-Grace Nicholls also entered her horse Booroodabin Avispa (aka Avispa) in the Intro Open Class.

Both groups included large numbers of riders therefore the girls were competing against not only juniors but adults as well.  On the Saturday Sophie completed a super little dressage test and went clear in her showjumping round which left her sitting in 7th place overall and 2nd place in the junior category.  She then managed to go clear in her cross country phase leaving her 4th overall and 1st junior.  This is a truly outstanding result.

Laura-Grace completed one of her best dressage tests yet and was sitting 11th equal overall out of a class of 41 riders and 3rd Junior.  Unfortunately she had a rail down in the showjumping which resulted in 4 penalties being added to her score. This dropped her to 14th overall and 5th Junior.  She rode a champion cross country race and was clear and on time. This left her as 2nd junior and 9th overall.  A marvelous result considering the huge number of riders in this group.

Congratulations to both Sophie and Laura – Grace on another very successful event.
