Year 12 Final Day

As our year races to a conclusion and the Festive Season beings in earnest, we pause to
congratulate our Year 12 graduates on a wonderful year in 2017.

St John’s has always paid attention to important rites of passage for our students and our
celebrations with Year 12 students and their families did not disappoint in this regard.
The celebrations were touched with both sadness and joy as memories were shared and achievements acknowledged.

Old Collegians hosted a BBQ Breakfast on the Seniors’ final day to formally induct our graduates into the Association.
There is always a home for our graduates and a community to which they can remain connected. Our Valedictory
Dinner, Guest Speaker Ashley Hanger (2011), offered some great advice on how to manage situations graduates
face when making transitions out of school into the “real world”.  We are very grateful to our Old Collegians for
these initiatives and the support they are providing to our graduates leaving school.

Our graduates have been well prepared for their future, through the many opportunities provided, to have
confidence in themselves; and, have courage to speak up when things don’t seem right, courage to serve
others before self, courage to try new things, courage to fail and then try again, courage to challenge and
surprise themselves.

We thank our graduating Year 12s for their kindness and goodness to others in the school community;
for their focus on including all people in their daily leadership; and their affirmation of one another’s
achievements.  We are grateful for their leadership.

We now ask them, as graduates of St John’s, what are they going to do to enable the community
around them to improve, how can they give service to others in the wider community and in the global
community.  This will be their opportunity to put what they have learned into practice.

Good luck class of 2017.
